What I'm Reading Now

Michael lives in my neighborhood. I do not know him but I see him around all the time. This book (his first) was named one of the top 10 best books of 2007 by the NY Times Book Review. He also just won the Impac Dublin Literary Award.

What I Just Read

My rating:

(I need to cry for 5 stars.)

Janelle interviewed me eons ago for Salon.com. She's a sassy lady who's super nice. This is her first novel. It received rave reviews and I loved every minute of it.

Future Fashion Icon

Nora is such a trendsetter.

Boo

Omg, Ghost is on.

How hard do you think I'm gonna cry when Sam gets mugged and killed?

Oda Mae, Willy Lopez, Evil Carl... What an awesome movie.

New York Magazine Cover

Ha ha ha!

I know I'm a few days behind on this, but in case you haven't seen it, here's this week's New York magazine cover:

Funny!

My New Sofa

My new sofa comes today! My new sofa comes today! Between one and four! I'm waiting! I'm waiting!

Irresponsible Blog Lady

Earlier today I received this email from my friend Mark:

What is going on? You have not updated your blog with anything exciting in days! You are a bad irresponsible blog lady.

Sorry! My dad is in town so I've very busy with family things. I'll update later!

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Really Hot Chair

The only word that can describe this chair is awesome.

Via Freshome

UPDATE: Um... When I said awesome, I meant "awesomely bad." I'm only clarifying because I don't want people to think I have bad taste because I don't! This chair is one of those things I'd love to stumble upon after a few cocktails. Like TTQ said, "I would sit in this chair and pet it and name them."

OMG I Can't Stop

Another awesome Expert Village video series: How to play Frisbee.

More Expert Village Videos

Criminals everywhere, take note!

How To Attract Women

I just found another great video series on Expert Village called "How To Attract Women" by a guy named John Eagan.

Click here to watch him talk about when it's okay to get physical on a date. (I'd embed the video but it starts playing automatically and I find that really irritating.) I think it's safe to say John needs a little media training.

Oh yeah, and I have three words for you: The "go mode."

Great Instructional Video

I recently stumbled upon a website called Expert Village where people can upload instructional videos of themselves doing whatever it is they do so expertly. (You know what I mean.)

Now, is it just me, or is making a prosthetic limb something that should be left to a professional?

I just don't think this is a D.I.Y. project one should really be taking on.

Three Cheers For David Patterson

Spitzer, Spitzer, Spitzer. Enough about Eliot Spitzer—let's talk about David Patterson.

Lt. Governor David Patterson will become the governor of New York when Eliot Spitzer's resignation goes through. Not only will he be the first African-American governor of New York, he'll also be the first legally blind governor in the United States. Screw Spitzer and the hookers—this guy ran the New York marathon in 1999. (Again, he's legally blind.) Now that's exciting!

David Patterson could be my new favorite person. Let's just hope he doesn't have a thing for the 'tutes.

I Love Maverick

Did anyone else just watch Top Gun? It was on Cinemax tonight. It's such a great movie, isn't it?

Remember how awesome Tom Cruise was before he became a punchline? Risky Business, Top Gun, Cocktail, Rain Man, A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire—the list goes on.

I have to confess, I still love him. I can't help it. Nut case or not, he has a special place in my heart.

Happy Birthday Wrigley

Dear Wrigley,

I just want to wish you a happy birthday and tell you that you're a fatty.
