What I'm Reading Now

Michael lives in my neighborhood. I do not know him but I see him around all the time. This book (his first) was named one of the top 10 best books of 2007 by the NY Times Book Review. He also just won the Impac Dublin Literary Award.

What I Just Read

My rating:

(I need to cry for 5 stars.)

Janelle interviewed me eons ago for Salon.com. She's a sassy lady who's super nice. This is her first novel. It received rave reviews and I loved every minute of it.

Cause of the Brooklyn Tornado, Revealed

For those of you who might not have heard, a tornado touched down in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn yesterday morning. I received a few emails from people asking if I'm okay, and I just want to let everyone know that I'm fine, thank you for asking. The tornado was about four miles away from me.

While residents of Bay Ridge appear to be shaken up by the twister, word on the street is that they're smiling on the inside, as this is the most excitement their neighborhood has seen since the 70s, when "Saturday Night Fever" was set there.

While no one knows the cause of the tornado, I have a theory, which can best be explained by the following picture:

Tony Manero is pissed.

To John Travolta...

Tony didn't say anything when you jazzercised your way through "Perfect"...

...or embarrassed yourself in "Look Who's Talking" One AND Too.

He bit his tongue when you dressed up as a monkey in "Battlefield Earth"...

...and as a pig in "Wild Hogs." (Wait, what?)

But your most recent stunt has caused him to put his foot down. Enough is enough.

This. Just. Isn't. Acceptable.

While Tony didn't want to resort to literally stirring sh*t up in Bay Ridge, he felt he had no choice. He will not stand by and watch you tarnish his cool image over and over again. Stop now, please. Save Brooklyn.

F Train Tragedy

So this is going to be a terrible post. I was on the F Train coming home after taping my VH1 segment, when the train came to an abrupt stop. After a few seconds, the conductor came over the loud speaker and said, "We have a customer on the track." As it turns out, someone committed suicide by jumping in front of the train. The train was just entering the West 4th stop.

I was in the second to last car which wasn't in the station yet, so myself and the other passengers had to walk through all the cars to the front in order to get off the train. When we deboarded, the station was loaded with firemen and police officers, and they were looking under the train for the body, the person... it was so horrible. I didn't see any blood or anything - thank God - but there was a stretcher and other stuff.

This was all I could find on the Internet about it. I'm sure there will be more; it just happened.

Manhattan, NY +Transit Delay+ Power is off on the downtown "F" Line due to an EDP that jumped onto the tracks in front of the train and was struck by the train at Waverly Place and 6th Avenue, ESU and FD on the scene, expect delays on the transit system.

(NOTE: EDP stands for Emotionally Disturbed Person.)

Check back later because I'm going to write more on this. I met a guy and we had a nice talk about life and I want to tell you about it.
