What I'm Reading Now

Michael lives in my neighborhood. I do not know him but I see him around all the time. This book (his first) was named one of the top 10 best books of 2007 by the NY Times Book Review. He also just won the Impac Dublin Literary Award.

What I Just Read

My rating:

(I need to cry for 5 stars.)

Janelle interviewed me eons ago for Salon.com. She's a sassy lady who's super nice. This is her first novel. It received rave reviews and I loved every minute of it.

What OCD?

More visual instructions for my mom, this time explaining how to put Jack and Nora in their car seats.

They're not even my kids. (But oh, how I love them!)

Swimsuit Update

I got a swimsuit. It's called the Marilyn.

Isn't it cute? I ordered it from an independent designer on Etsy called "Harajuku." It was $78 and they were able to overnight it to me. In case you order one, be aware that it isn't lined. (So I'd stay away from the white.) And one more thing, they say they run small, but I didn't find that to be the case.

I love the glamour girl/retro/50s swimsuits. My favorite is the Norma Kamali "Bill," but at $350, it's a little out of my price range.

The bikini version is cute, too, but it's even more expensive.

I also loved some of the styles by Abaete this season, but they retail for over $200, too.

Victoria's Secret has a few affordable styles, but they weren't able to send them to me in time.

And last but not least, I'd love to try the Esther Williams Classic Sheath. It retails for $79, comes in a million colors/patterns, and is lined with a tummy control panel. But they weren't able to send me one before I left, either.

Starbucks Discontinues Warm Breakfast Sandwich

This is so sad. I love the spinach feta wrap.

The company decided to discontinue the sandwiches because, although customers said they liked the sandwiches, their scent interfered with the aroma of coffee in its stores.

Remote Control Instructions Update

She's using them! She's using them!

Static!

Remote Control Instructions

My mom is watching Nora and Jack at my sister's house this weekend, so I took a picture of the remote control because, um... she doesn't know how to use it.

Vintage Knitting Books

I woke up about an hour ago and I can't go back to sleep, so I've been browsing around on eBay and discovered vintage knitting books. (Yes, I really am this dorky.)

You have to see some of the patterns from the sixties and seventies. They're ah-maz-ing.

I bought the book to the left; it's from 1972. Here are some of the patterns inside:

I only bought it for the shorts pattern in the first picture, but how awesome are the other things? Not that I'd wear them anywhere, but they're so cool. Actually, Nora could wear the white outfit at the end. I also like the brown dress in the row above it.

Anyway, here are some more cool patterns from different books that I stumbled upon:

I absolutely love the skirt with the belt on the right side of the second to last row. You could totally wear that today. As for the lady below her with the overalls... what was she thinking?

Let's move on to some of the kid's clothes. How cute would Nora and Jack look in some of these:

I'm totally kidding about that patriotic one at the end; my sister would kill me if I made Jack wear that. Everything else is so cute, though. I mean, look at these toys and belts:

Okay, the last thing I want to show you now are the hats. Way cute.

I have my eye on another book, but I'm not going to tell you which one it is because I don't want you to outbid me.

Okay, goodnight!
