Damn, it's hot out here for a pimp.
Sent from my BlackBerry wireless handheld.
Look what arrived today!
I wasn't kidding. I'm working on teaching her how to oink now.
PS - Sometimes I call Beverly my porky Yorkie. Now she really is!
PPS - She needs a smaller size.

Nora's Third Birthday
Nora helping Daddy put together a new play set:
I think this picture says a lot about real womanhood.
The ability to get dressed and be both fabulous (the tutu) and practical (the boots), survey the need & take on the job, getting hold of whatever tools are required (and sometimes, amazing the men around us.)
I would frame that photo and keep it as an inspiration. Nora rocks."
I'm about to have my books signed.
When I get up there, Mark thinks I should ask him if he can get me reservations at Babbo. When/If he says, "Yes," I should pull out my cell phone, hand it over and say, "Here. I'll wait."

A reason to love Mario Batali...
He just arrived at his book signing on his scooter with no entourage.
A reason not to love him...
Those orange Crocs.
Mario, if you're reading this... I kid, I kid! I like the orange Crocs; they match your hair. Please don't ban me from Babbo, Spotted Pig, et al.

Guess where I'm going?!
To the Mario Batali book signing at the Williams-Sonoma store in Chelsea! Yay!
I love Mario Batali. I've had a crush on him since his "Molto Mario" days. I'm serious.
He's signing copies of his new book, "Italian Grill," and I'm getting a few copies for gifts.
I'm bringing my camera and I'm going to take pictures.
I saw a cute picture on MSBNC of a grieving monkey in India who lost her baby and "adopted" a puppy. I wanted to link to it but couldn't for some reason, so I did a search on the ole Google and found it on a website called Monkeys In The News. So, of course, I'm now over the picture and instead obsessed with the fact that there's a website that covers only monkeys in the news and nothing else. I mean, how great is that? It's been around since 2004, too, and prior to that existed as a website called Monkey Day. That's some serious monkey love right there.
Anyway, here's the picture...
Isn't it sweet? I want a monkey. I mean, how fun would that be? You know how when I sometimes bring both Elvis and Beverly to my sister's house in Connecticut on the train and feel like Jack Hanna in the process because I'm traveling with a small zoo? Adding a monkey to that would make it so much better.

Pets
I've written about this before and it must be a PMS thing, but I'm watching The Price is Right right now and I'm crying because I'm so happy for the people because they're so happy.
I mean, is anyone else watching? It's some million dollar bonanza show and it's so good.
UPDATE: Okay, now I'm screaming at the TV because this guy totally overbid on his showcase.
UPDATE 2: Omg, I was totally wrong. Not only was his bid not too high, but it was within $1,000 of the price of the showcase so he won both the showcase and the million dollars. Oh, I'm so happy for him. Way to go, Adam!
UPDATE 3: I'm such a moron.
My gardenia.
It belongs on the fail blog.
(Seriously, I don't know what happened. I watered it before I left last week and then put it outside. It rained the third day I was gone and I came home to it looking like that. I've been watering it the last few days, hoping to bring it back to life, but I don't think it's going to happen. It's crispy.)

My Gardenia
Oh, I'm in such a bad mood right now, and I just read this post by my friend Laura and started crying.
Please pray for Burton the cat.
Do you sometimes forget who the people are in your iChat Buddy List? Like, if their IM name is a nickname of some kind that gives no clue as to who they are?
Someone just popped up in mine and I have no idea who it is. I'm thinking of sending them a random message like, "Hey... how's it going?"
Oh, and on a related note, I really wish my friend Tracy would unblock me from her iChat.
UPDATE: I figured out who it is.
UPDATE 2: Tracy still hasn't unblocked me.
This website is so amazing. You just switch the heads of men and babies in pictures and you get ManBabies.
My sister is considering having someone bring farm animals to the house for Nora's birthday party.
If she does, I might put Beverly in this...
...teach her how to oink and try to pass her off as one of them. She'd love all the free pets she'd get.
