Beverly's leash disappeared when I was in Los Angeles. I'm not saying Mark and David stole it, but the circumstances surrounding its disappearance are rather suspicious. I mean, one day I had it, and the next I didn't. The only logical explanation is that someone took it.
I've already ruled out Carmella the cleaning lady. I had a nice conversation with her while she was cleaning the kitchen one day and she told me that her apartment building doesn't allow dogs so she doesn't have one. I've also ruled out Heidi the dog walker because she doesn't come upstairs when she picks up Brisco and Gertie, and that's where the leash was. The only people in close proximity of it were Mark and David, so you can draw your own conclusions.
They claim to have looked for it in my bedroom at their house, but I don't think they did a thorough enough job. I mean, did they lift up the carpet? Look under the bed? In the closet? They also keep telling me to look inside my suitcase, like I haven't already done that and emptied the thing out. I think they're trying to send me on a wild goose chase to throw me off their trail. I mean, don't you see why I'm suspicious? How does a leash just disappear?
Two gay men steal it, that's how.
Anywho, Bev and I just dropped forty big ones on a new one today at Trixie and Peanut, because that's how much the one we decided upon cost. It's a beautiful striped Ella Dish number that resembles her last one, but the colors are different and don't exactly go with her red harness, which kind of bums me out.
I want her old leash back. It has sentimental value. I made this sign. There's a reward attached to the person who finds it.

M. Ward, The Go-Getter
The other night I was browsing around iTunes and downloaded a few songs by an artist named M. Ward. It was one of those Genius recommendations and I really liked him. One of my favorite songs by him is one he sings with Zooey Deschanel (the actress, whom I love) called "Never Had Nobody Like You." I even made it my MySpace song.
So anyway, tonight I'm browsing around movies on-demand and come across one called The Go-Getter with Lou Taylor Pucci (from Thumbsucker, a movie I loved) and surprise! Zooey Deschanel. I'm watching it right now and I really like it, so I do a Google search and find the website. On it is a link to a review that says...
A few unlikely scenes are overly self-indulgent, but the film makes up for the lapses with beautiful cinematography and M. Ward's languorous score (this is the project that inspired musical duo Deschanel and Ward to become She & Him)."
So then I think, Oh, I know M. Ward, I just downloaded a bunch of his songs. And then I think, I have some She & Him on my iPod, too.
That's all.

So Sad
Robert Guskind, the guy who ran a neighborhood blog I read all the time, Gowanus Lounge, died Wednesday.
Only the Blog Knows Brooklyn: Gowanus Lounge, You Had Brooklyn's Back. And For That We Thank You
From the article...
So let me simply say: This is a sad day for all who love Brooklyn and cherish its neighborhoods and the spunky, historic charm and faded beauty of places, like Coney Island, that loom so large in the American imagination.
As a journalist, Bob was looking out for this borough and trying to protect it from the forces of money and development that swept through these parts like a reckless tornado.
Bob, you had Brooklyn's back. And for that we will always remember you. Thank you for you hard work and your belief that change is possible in the form of good reporting, a well-crafted blog post, and photographs that speak volumes.
I didn't know him personally, but he occasionally posted some of my pictures on Gowanus Lounge and he seemed like a really nice guy.
Here's a link to Bob's pictures on Flickr.
Also, Miss Heather at New York Shitty posted a video the two of them made together a few days ago.
My thoughts go out to his friends and family.

You know what bugs me? When people that you haven't seen in a while befriend you on Facebook and then don't take the time to read your profile. Instead, they write something stupid on your wall like, "So, are you still living in Chicago?"
I mean, you don't even need to click the Info tab to know that I'm not living in Chicago anymore—it's listed right underneath my freakin' picture, idiot.
See?
When I reconnect with someone who I haven't seen in a while, I take the time to look at they're profile, see what they're doing, where they're living, look at their pictures, etc., and then I ask my questions. I do my research. This person didn't. But, that's probably why he's doing porn to make a living... he not so smart.
I might unfriend this person now because his laziness bugs me.
I just needed to vent, sorry.
What bugs you about Facebook?

Billy Elliot
Oh, wow... was it ever amazing.
First, sorry for the delay in posting this, but I'm sick. Again. Every time I go to my sister's house I leave with a cold of some sort. It's the kids... I love them, but I'm beginning to believe that all little kids are germ farms.
So anywho, despite the fact that I was feeling like crap yesterday, I went to see Billy Elliot last night and had a glorious time. I went my new friend Jenny who lives in my neighborhood. She's so nice. Here's a link to her blog.
If you know about the show, three different boys alternate playing the role of Billy. We had David Alvarez, a classically trained ballerina and an adorable little kid. His dancing blew me away. He's Cuban, but from Canada, and his family moved to New York so he could attend The American Ballet Theater's Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School. (To which he received a full scholarship, btw.)
Here are the boys on The View:
Because they alternate playing the lead role of Billy, there was all sorts of chatter about this year's Tony Awards, and the administration committee just ruled that they'll be considered jointly for a nomination. So, if they're nominated and win, they'll share the Tony. I hope they do!
What else... Oh, we had the understudy for the dance teacher, Mrs. Wilkinson. Her name was Jayne Paterson and she was so good that I have a hard time believing the other one could be better. So party on, Jayne. You rocked it.
Go see the show! Men, women, children—it's something everyone will enjoy. It's at the Imperial Theater (which, btw alchies, has a bar inside the theater [as opposed to the lobby] so you can bring your drinks back to your seat and party through the performance) and they're selling tickets from now through January 2010.
