Old Lady Shoes

My friend Naomi really wants me to get a pair of old-lady orthopedic shoes.

They're hot, huh?

I worked in a shoe store when I was in high school and I tried on some of those shoes. They are ugly as hell but are SOO comfy. I can't wait till I get old so I can wander the mall in those bad boys.

You might try Tayrn Rose shoes. They are Oprah's favorite and they are designed by a woman who used to be a foot doctor. They are very pretty~but pricey too. But worth every penny if your feet don't hurt! :>)
Also-an FYI-I absolutely do feel your pain~I had plantar facietus(sp?) last year. I did foot exercises that I Googled and it finally cleared up on it's on. So I didn't have to spend the money on any pricey things to wear at night.

Ooh, I sympathize. I'm having foot surgery in two months (having the fifth metatarsal and pinky toe on each foot broken and reset--fun !) and will most likely have to wear old-lady shoes ever after.

A good friend of mine swears by New Balance for her foot issues; they might be a slightly less fug choice.

I agree with someone's earlier comment. "Don't knock 'em 'til you've tried 'em." Life without foot pain is a beautiful thing. Personally I like Naot brand shoes. I own one of their clogs and one of their Mary Janes and I always get a ton of compliments on how they look so they can't be too old ladyish. Plus, they're super comfy and don't bother my ankles the way high heels will.

Have you ever noticed that most elderly women turn to wearing white shoes? I wouldn't wear them unless it was really absolutely the height of fashion. Just look around in your mall..it cracks me up everytime I see it.s

Crocs. I heard someone say recently that they're just as ugly but not as old-ladyish.

Personally, I think I'd rather stab my eye out with a rusty spoon than wear crocs on a daily or semi-daily basis.

Good luck with your orthopedics!

...they even have gold and bronze ones (which look like the gold ones have sat in the window display a little while) in the range here from our chemist. Just think, you could totally glam up a glitzy outfit and clump around in those bad boys...
Truly hideous.

Where'd you see the gold old lady shoes? I might not mind getting a pair of those...

You could pimp them out and add rhinstones and glitter paint to them!!!

Or try some really good shoes - like Ecco which are very chic and VERY VERY comfortable. Or Mephisto which also can be amazing.

I had really really bad PF (plantar fascitis) and had to stand to teach (OUCH!!) My Mephistos and my Eccos are the only things I'll wear now.

Prettier than old lady shoes, and as comfortable!!

Good luck with it!!

I can only download the brochure with the particularly horrendous shoes in, but here is the url for another brand, which isn't actually any where near as revolting as I remember.

I think the 'hazel' will really appeal to a wide market...

But maybe you'll start a new fashion trend with the pimped up gold old lady shoes! :-)
